About NICANS
We are the Igbo community of Nova Scotia. We help newcomers settle in, keep our language and culture alive, and celebrate together.

Who we are
The Ndi Igbo Cultural Association of Nova Scotia brings together people of Igbo heritage across the province: by birth, marriage, naturalization or adoption. We are a non-profit, and we are run by volunteers.
Our doors are open to everyone. IRI-JI, our New Yam Festival, has run seven times, and more than 1,500 people came in 2024.
Njiko bu oganiru.
Unity is progress.
